Laxmibai tells Moropant that she did her duty as a queen when she saved Samar and Karma. Moropant chides her that she should have waited for Tatya Tope to free Samar and Karma. Laxmibai tells her father that she is equally shattered on losing her unborn child as any other mother would be. Laxmibai laments that Gangadhar has gone to remarry as he does not love or trust her anymore. Gangadhar is haunted by Laxmibai's pleas for justice. In the court proceedings against Samar and Karma, the lawyer builds a strong case. John Lang demands judicial custody of Samar and Karma. Samar and Karma thank Laxmibai. Laxmibai tells them that she will never let anything happen to them as they have to drive out the British battalion from Jhansi. Nelson meets the jailor and makes an evil plan. He plans to keep Samar and Karma with the most ferocious prisoners so that they will be killed and Nelson will not be blamed.
