During the middle of the 20th century, it seemed you couldn’t walk into a single establishment without seeing a familiar red and chrome machine with a glass dome PACKED with colored balls in every color of the rainbow. Who was putting them there? Where did they come from? And when is the last time you remember even buying a gumball from a machine, let alone seeing one in person?
