In 1868 Kansas, two women traveling by wagon train are taken captive after a violent attack and brought into a Lakota community. As fear gives way to understanding, one woman begins to adapt to an unfamiliar way of life, while the other longs to return home—forcing a difficult choice between duty, identity, and unexpected love.
