Set in Berlin in June 1940, a working-class couple are crushed by the loss of their son at the front and grow disillusioned with Nazi promises. They begin quietly resisting by writing anti-regime postcards and leaving them in public places, but their efforts bring danger as the SS and Gestapo close in and even neighbors can turn threatening.
