A well-to-do woman travels to New Guinea seeking rare feathers for export, but falls in with a small group of European wanderers chasing a remote valley marked on maps as “obscured by clouds.” As the trek deepens into jungle and mountains, their ideals are tested through encounters with local communities and a growing clash between Western desires and indigenous ways of life.
