In 2009, an Iranian-Canadian journalist travels to cover a volatile election and its aftermath. After a satirical appearance intended as a joke, authorities arrest him and he’s detained at home and then imprisoned, where he faces intense interrogation that quickly turns his reporting into a fight for survival.
