In 1940 New York, an insurance investigator who prides himself on success clashes with a newly hired efficiency expert tasked with reorganizing the office. After a night out, both are hypnotized by a stage performer and later used in criminal schemes, forcing them into suspicion and arguments while they try to make sense of what’s happening.
