In a small provincial Czechoslovak town, the local firemen plan a celebration to honor their retiring chief, complete with music, dancing, a beauty pageant, and a raffle. But everything keeps going wrong at every step, as mishaps, theft, and even a fire turn the event into a mounting fiasco.
