A small-town ride operator heads to Houston after his father signs him up for the space program, only to discover he’s hired as a janitor, not an astronaut. Trying to keep up the lie, he later gets a chance when NASA sends a layperson into space to test an automated spacecraft, forcing him to face his fear of heights.
