Set in 1824, it follows a troubled composer in his final days as he races to complete his new symphony while facing deafness, loneliness, and personal setbacks. With his work in urgent need of support, a fictional young music student steps in as a copyist and gradually earns his trust, becoming essential by the time the music is performed.
