Inspired by a real 1942 rescue at sea, Dongji Rescue follows a small group of Chinese fishermen when a warship is torpedoed off Dongji Island and hundreds of POWs face the danger of drowning. With the captors closing in, the fishermen set out to protect lives on the open waters.
