Gianina, a young Romanian chambermaid, works for a bourgeois family in Bordeaux and spends her evenings rehearsing a maid’s story with an amateur theater group. She cares for her employer’s son while her own daughter grows up far away in Romania, and as Christmas nears, the hope of reunion grows stronger.
