Scientist Doctor Who accidentally activates his new invention, the TARDIS, a time machine disguised as a police telephone box. He, his two granddaughters, and a young boyfriend are transported to Skaro, where a peaceful race faces a nuclear threat from their robotic mutant enemies, the Daleks.
