On paper, Toys should be a slam dunk. It’s Willy Wonka but a toy factory with money for great sets, a stacked cast headed by Robin Williams and a competent team behind the camera. Unfortunately, Toys is riddled with issues. It’s pretty boring, the performances are too broad, the sets look expensive but uninspired and the “action” sequences are incoherent. A couple jokes land, and surprisingly, LL Cool J’s secret ops character is the best part of this movie. Watch Small Soldiers instead. 🧸.5 / 🧸🧸🧸🧸🧸.
