It's winter at Emmerdale Farm, and Annie Sugden finds herself thinking back to last summer. It was a busy time, with new land to work, and prospects looked bright. But there was a shock in store for all of them - especially Matt Skilbeck.

When Judy Westrop hears of the problems at Emmerdale she offers Annie her help, but Sam Pearson wants nothing to do with Judy - nothing at all.

Matt worries that history with Peggy is repeating itself with Dolly when the doctor wants to keep Dolly in hospital longer. Meanwhile, Enid surprises Amos.

Enid is suspected of owning the fox as a pet, whilst Amos gets a shock to find a monkey on his table - also belonging to Enid. Meanwhile, Judy feels uncomfortable around Bob and wishes people would just be straight with her.

Henry makes Sam see sense over Judy, whilst Enid attacks Mick.

Enid declares war on Mick, but is left fuming when she is advised not to take legs action against him. Meanwhile, Amos and Henry discover Mick had caused their infestation problem.

Richard arrives to take over Maurice's role and causes problems with Jesse. Meanwhile, Matt continues to fret about Dolly.

Matt is concerned when Bill tells him that he's had a sheep killed by a dog identical to Snip. Meanwhile, Richard pushes Jesse one step too far, and Jesse decides to hand in his resignation.

The Sugdens are left worried when the doctor reveals that Dolly has taken a turn and needs an immediate operation. Meanwhile, Richard is furious when he is confronted by Henry over the pine forest and has a word with Jesse, who hands in his resignation.

Matt is relieved that Dolly is making a recovery, but is upset to discover she has miscarried. Meanwhile, Judy gives Joe the cold shoulder but the pair reconcile when Joe explains why he didn't turn up.

Bill confronts Matt over Snip attacking another one of his lambs, and Matt decides to put him down. However, Joe discovers that Snip has been sleeping in Mick's barn and stopped another dog going for Dave's lambs - will he stop Matt in time? Meanwhile, Judy tries to give Richard some advice but Richard throws her out.

Annie is thrilled to discover Jack will be returning soon. Ruth convinces Jesse to ask for his job back. Henry causes Amos to give in and quit his diet.

The family are thrilled when Jack returns but it's clear there's something borrowing him. Meanwhile, Jane is concerned about how Danny has been after losing his job.

Danny is thrilled when Richard reveals he can get him a job - but not so much when it's in Derbyshire. Meanwhile, Jack reveals that he is sick of writing and has lost interest.

Jane is furious to discover Danny has kept Richard's job offer secret, however she remind him that if he takes it, he'll be on his own. Also, Jack decides on a career change.

Danny heavily considers Richard's job offer, whilst Jack finally decides to give up writing.

Danny decides to leave Beckindale for Derbyshire, whilst Jack decides to leave Italy for Beckindale. Meanwhile, Joe is suspicious of Jack's intentions.

Alan tries to convince the Sugdens that Jack won't adjust well to farm life. Meanwhile, Annie's words strike a cord with Jane, who sees Danny off for his job interview.

Ed decides to give up his business in America to take over his father's farm. Meanwhile, Amos hears noises and begins to believe The Woolpack is haunted.

Amos has a fall whilst using his chest expander, whilst Joe receives a phone call from America.

Judy freaks Amos out over the mysterious noises, whilst Jack has a word with Esmeralda on Harold's behalf. Also, Joe goes to America.

Joe has an important decision to make, but he still wants to know what Annie thinks.

Amos decides to do something about the strange noises in The Woolpack, but perhaps the remedy is worse than the disease.

Esmarelda has been avoiding Jack since he criticised her book, but Jack is determined to make her face reality.

There is great activity at Emmerdale Farm as the Sugdens wait for Matt to bring Dolly home from hospital.

Amos finds his premonitions are justified when a very unwelcome letter arrives. Meanwhile, Henry suspects wild birds are being poisoned in Beckindale.

Tempers in The Woolpack run high when Henry confronts Enoch with the facts about Beckindale's spate of bird poisoning.

Dolly has become very subdued since her return to Emmerdale Farm and Amos is prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to cheer her up.

When Amos sets out for Hotten, on his crusade agianst bureaucracy, he gets more than he bargained for!

Enoch returns to Emmerdale Farm in search of advice, but Annie decides it's time he was told a few home truths.

When Donald returns to Beckindale after a long absence, Annie senses a change in him. Meanwhile, Dolly has to make a decision about her playschool job.

Sam arrives back from Ireland with an unusual souvenir - one that seems destined to cause disruption at Emmerdale Farm.

Amos wants to stage a Son et Lumiere in the Parish Church, but when Henry approaches Hinton about it but he's far from happy with his response. Matt is summoned by Harry who wants help. The Bishop visits Hinton. Hinton says he seems to think he is treated as a social worker as well as a vicar.

Sam's prize fish continues to cause disruption at Emmerdale Farm. Meanwhile, Donald pays an overdue visit to an old parishioner - and gets more than he bargained for.

Maurice wants his daughter to go with him when he leaves Beckindale, but Judy has other ideas. Meanwhile, a disagreement with Donald has fatal consequences for Harry. Harry worries about how his dog Sparky will cope if he dies. Harry says that he was once married, and his wife killed herself over 30 years ago. Harry wants communion. He and Hinton argue, and Harry asks him to leave.

Donald is shocked and consumed by guilt after discovering Harry has died. Meanwhile, Maurice tries to get Judy to go to Wales with him.

Amos is sure Sam and Seth are up to something - and he's right. They've come to The Woolpack to make him an offer he can't refuse. Meanwhile, Jack tries to figure out the milk quotas, and Dolly finds herself looking after an orphaned lamb.

Amos does nothing by halves, and his newly acquired allotment is already causing disruption at The Woolpack. Elsewhere, Maurice isn't happy with Seth's secretive answers about the game stock, and Jack goes to visit the Longthorns for advice.

Clifford Longthorn and his son Andy have fallen out over Andy not wishing to remain on the farm after school, and when Jack takes Andy's side he gets some hard words from Clifford. Elsewhere, Amos continues to work hard on the allotment, and Dolly worries about Annie's health.

Amos finds gardening hard going, much to Sam's and Seth's amusement, but when they visit his allotment they're in for a shock. Meanwhile, the tensions continue to rise between the Longthorns, as Carol attempts to make her voice heard.

Clifford sustains an injury on the farm and is left eating his words when Carol proves to be his knight in shining armour. Meanwhile, Sam challenges Seth to a fishing competition to settle whose the better fisher.

Sam and Seth set off to see who's the better fisherman, but the afternoon doesn't turn out quite as they expect.

A new couple arrives in Beckindale as Emmerdale Farm prepares for the Connleton Show. Meanwhile, Amos hatches some elaborate plans - and they look like involving the whole village!

Alan has put Sam's nose well and truly out of joint; is Amos more likely to see eye to eye with Alan and his wife?

Dolly is trying to make some changes at the farm, in spite of stern opposition from Sam. Meanwhile, a problem for Matt becomes a way of making new friends.

Everything is peaceful in Beckindale as the village gathers for the Sunday Service. However, Amos' tranquility is disturbed by the arrival of a stranger. This stranger asks the postman about the murder of Sharon Crossthwaite a few years back, in woodland outside the village.

With Joe in America, Jack is coping well with work at Emmerdale Farm. But Matt senses that there are other things on his mind, especially as Jack has kept a painting drawn by Jackie 8 years ago. Matt tells Dolly about Jack's past relationship with Jackie's mother Pat Merrick, and how she married Tom despite the fact he was troublesome.

Paul has been stirring up some unpleasant facts about Beckindale's past and Donald is anxious about how some villagers will react.

Amos's plans to surprise Henry look like backfiring on him at every stage. Meanwhile, Paul has some surprises of his own to spring on Annie. Jack and Pat meet for the first time in 8 years. However Paul listens in on their conversation.

Sam is not happy to discover Pat has returned to the village, but is relieved when Matt tells him it's just to visit a relative. Meanwhile, Amos throws Henry a surprise party - and actually manages to keep it secret.

It's Sunday in Beckindale, but Jack finds he has a score to settle before he can rest and he's not the only man in the village nursing a grievance. Jack is annoyed that Paul has published libellous gossip about him in the papers, hinting that Jack is trying to split up his former lover's marriage, and that Jack was incestuous with Sharon. Jack says that Sharon was not immediate family, she was a distant cousin about 10 times removed. Jack pushes Paul into the pond, saying he is scum and belongs in the pond.

Beckindale's eerie Bogle Bog is definitely not the place to be stranded in the dead of night - but that's exactly where Amos finds himself! And a customer at The Woolpack claims to come from a very long way away.

Everyone in Beckindale looks forward to the annual cricket match against Robblesfield; but this year it brings unexpected problems for Seth and Sam.

Amos has a theory about the motorcyclist camped at the farm museum but Henry finds out what he's really up to.

The problems of the Butterworth Ball match look insoluble until Sam comes up with an answer. Meanwhile, there's a surprise in store for Matt.

Jack's friendship with Pat continues; but he still doesn't see eye to eye with Jackie and Sandie.

Joe's plans for the beef herd are fiercely opposed at Ridge Farm - and John takes advantage of the unrest.

Richard decides to take the law into his own hands; will he be able to avoid a confrontation with his men?

When Jack takes Pat and the children out for the day, he has a surprise in store for them.

Tom tries to reconcile with Pat but Pat makes clear he is not wanted. Meanwhile, Amos is rightfully suspicious of a customer. Later, Joe discovers some trees have been stolen overnight.

An unexpected visitor arrives at The Woolpack - and threatens to undermine Amos's professional dignity. Tom makes an effort to apologise to Pat for his outburst the other night, but they soon fall out when he insults her over her relationship with Jack.

Amos is not a man to be daunted by humiliation - but even Henry is surprised by the way he bounces back.

Tom and Derek arrange another theft of the Home Farm Christmas tree plantation, but things go disastrously wrong when they end up running Joe over in their effort to drive away.

Christmas in Beckindale - and as Dolly's Nativity play gets underway, Amos prepares his surprise for The Woolpack. Joe has a sprained shoulder and bruises following the robbery. Sandie passes the news on to him that she believes Tom was responsible.
