Jim'll Fix It

The first of 13 programmes. Last year more than a quarter of a million people wrote to Jimmy Savile with their 'Fix It' requests. Today some of those dreams become a reality.

Included in this week's show is a basketball match between the Harlem Globetrotters and a team of girls, each of whom has had a heart operation.

The last in the present series with Jimmy Savile. So that you don't feel you saw it all last week, the items in Jimmy's 'best of' come from last year's series.

In this special Spring Bank Holiday edition Jimmy fixes four young ladies a trip on a woman-powered rail trolley; Nigel Jones becomes a reporter (for the Daily Mirror) and Sarah Scott sells his newspapers; pop group Tight Fit gets a new member and a smelly old pond is beautified.

"Dear Jimmy Savile, please may I... dangle from a helicopter ? Skate with Robin Cousins ? Drive a car into the sea ? Meet Big Ted from Play School ?" In this special edition Jimmy shows some favourite fix-its that viewers have asked to see again.

"Dear Jim, please may I visit Ken Dodd's jam butty mines ? Sing with Val Doonican ? Help Father Christmas pack his sack ?" In this special Christmas edition, Jimmy Savile makes these and other dreams come true.
